52 Things I've learned in my 52 Years of Life

As my birthday is approaching, I've been thinking about all the experiences, knowledge, and aha moments I've picked up over the years. Another year older, another year wiser...or so they say..haha. The years have been rewarding and the lessons haven't stopped, so here are 52 things I've learned in my (almost) 52 years.

  1. Life is short…. Eat the brownie with ice cream on top

  2. Reserve your energy for the people & things that really matter. I’ve found most things are unimportant.

  3. You can curate your life the way you curate your social media feed. Always be editing out what doesn’t work and who doesn’t deserve space in your life…life is much more simple this way

  4. What you focus on matters. Change what you focus on and what you focus on changes.

  5. Daydreaming is important. Being intentional with my life helps create the life I want.

  6. The prince on a white horse is not coming to save me. I can save myself.

  7. Happiness is overrated, but peace and contentment are priceless.

  8. Radical compassion for self is everything.

  9. Just because something is simple doesn’t make it easy.

  10. Everything takes longer than expected, so plan for distractions, lulls and the vicissitudes of life.

  11. God first.

  12. Self care is not selfish.

  13. The only way out, is through. Whatever you’re going through, keep going. If you’re avoiding something it will come back up and must be faced, either now, or later.

  14. Love trumps hate-all day everyday.

  15. Failure is part of winning, so fail fast and get it over with lol.

  16. There is a lot of freedom within structure.

  17. Motivation and drive are self directed.

  18. Sometimes we need answers to questions we don’t even have.

  19. Everything we need is within us.

  20. The days Long, but the years are short.

  21. Most things we stress over are really quite unimportant.

  22. What’s love got to do with it?

  23. Fully welcome and Embrace friends who are more like family.

  24. God’s plans unfold beautifully and perfectly.

  25. Slow is always better than fast.

  26. We get to choose.

  27. If you can see it in your mind's eye, you can bring it to life.

  28. Good enough is good enough.

  29. Two things can be true. Same and different.

  30. I am loved.

  31. Time freedoms is priceless. Early in my career, I didn’t make a lot of money, but I had a lot of freedom.

  32. Money is easy to make & harder to hold on to.

  33. Health is definitely wealth.

  34. Dream big!

  35. Invest in yourself, because if you don't, who will?

  36. The test repeats until you learn the lesson, then you pass.

  37. Two are better than one.

  38. A “no” is sometimes better than a “yes”.

  39. Life is hard AF!

  40. “But” and “just” as qualifiers are dismissive minimizing.

  41. You can never use up your creativity. The more you use it, the more it grows.

  42. Our parents were onto something when they told us to “sit down and be still”.

  43. There’s a big difference between being nice and being kind.

  44. It’s true that you can only connect the dots when you look backwards.

  45. Opportunities present in unexpected packages.

  46. Freedom ain’t free. Sometimes you have to give your life for it.

  47. Make room for love.

  48. There is a place for it, but the grind is overrated.

  49. Ask for what you need. You may not get it, but the confidence you build pays off in the end.

  50. Abundance is everywhere.

  51. Wisdom comes from many sources-pay attention.

  52. I am God’s child and He’s got me covered in all ways-there is peace in knowing this.

Do any of these resonate with you? I know we all lead very different lives but sometimes the same lessons come around to us through different experiences. What have you learned along the way?
